In the old days they used Cowslips , among other things, to make wine (oxläggevin) and the leaves used for salad. When cowslips are in G, we know that summer is near!

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) grows wild in Sweden, and is very common to find the fields and sand, gravel chips. It mixes up easily with mayweed. Chamomile smells gone, mayweed do not. There are several differences that can be read about here . Chamomile is also considered to have a medical capacity , and used in the past against infections, colds and much more. If you have trouble sleeping, a cup of Chamomile tea can help. More information about this plant's medical capability available on nyfikenvital.org . Back Pinks (Dianthus deltoides) out on Gränsö Nature Reserve, in Västervik.

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Swedish: On Gränsö Nature Reserve ( little island ) plants are a plethora of exciting plants. During my last visit I saw a collection of Dianthus deltoides (Latin), and Back Pinks which is the Swedish name. They lit up as if they were radioactive , and something like that is hard to just walk past with a camera on the shoulder. This plant is a bit special , for the flower closes during the dark period of the day and during rain, and opens at the light and sunshine.

English: At Gränsö nature reserve I found These Maiden Pinks (Dianthus deltoides). They lit up as They elsewhere radioactive and something visual pleasing like that is hard to miss, and not to photograph. The flat is a bit special, for the flower is closing during the dark period of the day, and During rain, and open up When it Sees Light.

Chicory / Chicory blooming a little north of Västervik

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

Swedish: After countless mosquito bites , I came away from the field, where I found the chicory on the photo below in the flesh, and probably without anemia. Chicory is not fully open in the picture. The field where this beautiful plant grew, I found at Hälgsjö , located one mil north of Västervik , near a huge wheat field, which will be photographed by me soon.

English: After count less mosquito bites I got from the field, where I found the Common chicory in the photo Below living, and probably without anemia. I'm not 100% sure it is a Chicory (Cichorium intybus). But it was the Closest I could find in my book of flowers.
