Monday, May 25th, 2009

Now that I got my camera back from repair, I'm an easy victim to nature's cruelty, such as ticks , mosquitoes and snakes, as I'm very close with nature. The picture shows a rödsippa who have not had enough energy to bloom. photographed at Victory Gärde in Västervik.

Sunset in Happened traversed port on a cold winter.

Translation:

Another picture from the store, waiting for my camera is back from repair.

The picture below is a late winter photography. The ice had just changed its form, from being the big trucks to smaller trucks that were close together and created an irritating sound through friction . pier had a thin layer of snow that today's last sun tried to melt away to let in the spring. One of the fishing boats in Happened traversed port had been out at sea, may have been fishing, or been on the first trip in the archipelago . Händelöp at sunset is magical.

Sopot has many fine hotels. The hotel that beats all others in architecture and luxury has to be the Grand Hotel which is located about 2 minutes walk from the 515.5-meter long pier, right next to the beach and of course it's an incredible view over the Baltic Sea, and the early birds will experience a very beautiful sunrise from the west. Built in 1924-1927 and has had guests such as: Annie Lennox , Adolf Hitler , Greta Garbo and Fidel Castro . More info at Wikipedia .

This text into English

Sopot is a city in northern Poland that lies between Gdansk and Gdynia , has around 40 000 inhabitants. Sopot is best known for its nightlife and spas, according to Wikipedia . During my visit there in the spring of 2008 I was most impressed by the exciting architecture , the long beach and the 515.5-meter long pier and all the cozy cafes that served good Polish cheesecake ( Sernik in Polish). For those of you who have not been there I recommend a trip there. History of Sopot's here .

The picture shows The " Crooked House " designed by the Polish architect Zotynscy Zaleski. Inside you will find restaurants and a number of stores-

Rätöbrygga are two bridges located in Kuggviken at North Country , about 1 mil north of Västervik . During the summer months, the bridges full of boats that are anchored. In winter, the opposite, completely empty. Well, some let their boats lie in and damaged by the cold and ice.

Below we see a bridge that was empty from the boats. The only thing that existed at that rimfrostiga , ostbila, wooden bridge, these plants in the center of the image, and possibly me as the cold took its grip on.

The sound of a Nikon D700 with a Nikon 24-70 8.2 lens that falls on the mountain is a sound (and sight) I will never forget. Yesterday when I was on Gränsö and photographed as I fumbled with the camera so the whole package went wrong. The lens can not zoom in, and a piece of plastic has disappeared from the front edge. The camera's shutter and sensor and the glass cover of the upper dislayen is gone. Sad, very sad. Disaster! Until I can straighten out my camera problems you will have to put up with archive photographs taken during the year.

Between Grönö and Spårö is a healthy - healthy sporozoite . ( Map ) On Spårö is one of the East Coast's best known navigation marks , namely Spårö beacon . Spårö beacon was built in 1776-1777 by Russian prisoners of war. Beacon is 25 meters high and stands on Spåröberget which lies 35 meters above sea level. In 1925, lightning struck the bottom of the roof and destroyed it completely. Then mounted it on a tin roof. For those of you who want to know more about the island and its history should visit the Kalmar County Museum's website and read this pdf . A whole raft of exciting information about Spårö and its beacon. For those who like to dive, there is also a wreck to visit on the north side of Spårö.

Roadkill on the way home. (Warning for sensitive)

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Hares are passed on! Sometimes I wonder if there is a surplus of these animals in the Swedish countryside. I often see 5-6 pieces in a few minutes when I'm out on my bravaer. Usually running in front of the car, in the candlelight. Hence the fate of the hare in the picture. It's not me who made this "road kill" without anyone else. I found it to death and could not resist taking this opportunity to photograph it, so it looked like I was a sinner.

Photo info:
Nikon D700, Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 and a Nikon SB800 flash in CLS (The flash of the camera) that put light on the hare. Avanade manual focus because it was pitch black outside and the hare seemed not at all. Had to guess where the focus would be, and after 4-5 photos put the focus fairly correct. Modern cameras have a feature that addresses this phenomenon with a focus in the pitch black environment very well, and it's called auto-assist illuminator. A small light that illuminates the subject while you focus. Now why did not I think of it at the moment?
